The truck you will see here is the one that Jamie has mastered! I took the IH 9400 cast resin kit and mounted it on a Promotex Ford Aeromax chassis and added fuel tanks from our Ford LTL kit (modified slightly) and added the same sleeper box (as the Day &Ross) that we cast to resemble a 52" flat top; exhaust stacks ae out of the scrap box, Promotex tool box on right side and semi scratch built battery box on left side. The mirrors are CH Mack and detail items (antenna, convex mirrors are various plastic pieces.)

The trailer is the Promotex 48' flat bed that I made to resemble a Dorsey and topped it off with a load of lumber from Chooch Enterprises of Redmond WA. I detailed the ends, tie bands and and the gap beween the lifts (or bundles.)

I had the urge to do build or detail the Econoline cube van so here it is. The rear doors where removed to give a better roll up version thanks to an IH U-haul box, clearance lites added and given a coat of authentic Ford's Oxford white. It seems that 95% of all cube vans are white.

The truck is a Jacobs Models FLD day cab without the side fairings, mounted on an Athearn chassis with steps added to the tanks and 1/4 fenders and rear frame step made of plastic. Details are made with staples and plastic, painted in authentic Sunoco blue base/clearcoat.

The tanker is the Model Power version basically as it comes with the exception of Athearn spokes on the rear (as well as the tractor) and the addition of clearance lights.

Just for some variety here is the FLD pulling the Wilson Grain trailer.

Here is the latest from JACOBS SCALE MODELS. It is a resin kit International 9200 on a shortened Athearn frame with A-Line wheels, Herpa mirrors; done up as a Ryder unit. The decals are from Drop & Hook.

Back in March 2003, Jim purchased this Con-Cor Atlas Van Lines Freightliner. Jim had some ideas for its future. Jim also purchased some Italeri 1/87 scale model trucks. Here is the Western Star stripped down to bare plastic.
Another view of the Italeri Western Star Italeri Western Star with a base coat of white hooked up to the Con-Cor Atlas Van Lines trailer.
Here is an update on the Western Star Atlas project. Yet to come are A-Line front Alcoa wheels with Alclad's "polished aluminum". I refined the lower part of the dark blue stripe on the trailer so I can add the saftey stripes and clear coated the results. A view of Jacobs Models work bench.
Here is the completed Atlas unit!!

The tractor has been adapted to an Athearn frame so I could lower the truck to the proper stance. Details added were the Italeri's 5th wheel and all the details (mirrors etc.) come with the kit! A-Line front wheels and Herpa rears finish the tractor with a coat of authentic Atlas colors in base/clearcoat paint.

The trailer has only been changed slightly adding the safety stripes and "low-pro" wheels and Italeri tires. It has been clear coated to match the tractor high gloss finish. All chrome is Alclad "polished Aluminum" except for the grille/bumper which has been "Bare-Metal Foiled" to detail (with black).

A picture comparing two Italeri Western Star models. The larger one is in 1/25th scale and the smaller one is in 1/87th scale.

Some months ago Jim started working on a Volvo VN. Here are some pictures of his work in process.
This picture shows the status of Jim's Volvo in March 2003 These two pictures show the status of Jim's Volvo in May 2003
Jim has gotten a bit further on his Volvo. Here are some recent pictures. Display of many of JACOBS SCALE MODELS trucks
Jim has come along really well on his Volvo.
JACOBS SCALE MODELS Volvo painted in Mayflower Van Lines colors complete with a matching trailer.
The Mack is one of Ralph Ratcliffe's resin cab/frame castings which we hollowed out and added windows. Jamied drilled out the axles to make them roll and added a ConCor mixer barrel which was lengthened. Winshield is vacu formed by Todd Terpstra, all detail items are brass wire and/or plastic stock.

The Western Star is a modified Itelari truck that was molded to make a day cab. Two Athearn frames were used to create the twin steer 72" spread and 72" spread rear. Herpa long barrel concrete mixer was added to the frames. Athearn tires and wheels on steer axle (widened tires) and Herpa six spoke on Athearn tires. All detail items are made by using brass wire and plastic stock. Both trucks are painted in Testors grey and custom mix green for the cabs.

The same description applies for both trucks although Jamie built one (the finished one on the left) and the rear one on the convoy deck is mine. Anyway they are done and it was interesting doing the same project in the same color scheme no less. There is a first time for everything!!
