A special treat for us on the day we were at the Tehachapi Loop. Santa Fe was testing out a GP60 and it was used on the Chicago to San Francisco piggy back train this day in May 1986.

For this particular train, I was standing up on to top of the mountain above tunnel #10, so I was able to get a shot of this eastbound piggy-back train coming up the grade and through the loop and then on the south end of tunnel #10. I had to do some fast pacing to get down to track level on the south side of the mountain. But I got the shots.
Santa Fe #5092 (SD40-2), 5962 (SDF45), 5050 (SD40-2), 5106 (SD40-2) leading the train.
