A W model Ford for Berger Global from Minneapolis, MN @ the Mass 10 Truck Stop on U.S. 20 in Auburn, MA shot in late fall 1974. Textile industry giant West Point Pepperell was a common sight for years all over the Eastern U.S. with this color scheme and logo's. This White Freightliner pulled into the Mass 10 to fuel up when I was there in summer 1974. Here's another J.B. Montgomery from Denver, CO waiting for it's turn to unload at Hampden Beef in downtown Springfield on a dreary early 1975 morning.
Nicely painted White Freightliner for Livestock Service, Inc. at Pioneer Valley Ref. Warehouse in spring 1975. One tough looking KW leased to Coldway Food Xpress from Sydney, OH offloading at the old A & P warehouse on Springfield's N. end in fall 1974. An O/O leased to Dallas, TX based Caravan Refrigerated Cargo (CRC) at The Springfield farmer's market in early spring 1975.
White Freightliner for Hudson Cement clearing the Mass Pike Exit 4 toll booth after picking up his ticket for the journey on I-90 over the Berkshire Mountains back to NY State in summer 1974. Robco Transportation (a unit of C.H. Robinson Co.) White Freightliner at The Mass 10 on U.S. 20 near Auburn in summer 1974. S & M Trucking was pulling this apple trailer for Hudson River Fruit Distributors which was at the Springfield farmer's market in summer 1974.
This Pete COE leased to the Southwest Motor Freight div. of MI based Interstate System that I caught at Hampden was featured as a Tractor of the Month runner up in Overdrive Magazine back in the mid 70's. IH Transtar for Transamerican World Wide Moving at the Westfield Hojo's in late fall fall 1974. A winter road grime covered IH 4200 for Labar Truck Rental being used by a U.S. Mail contractor parked at the motel in early 1975 that all the LTL fleets used while layed over in W. Springfield.
This chocolate & black Brockway stopped along U.S. 5 in W. Springfield during the summer months of 1974. Raeford Trucking Co. from Sanford, NC stopped on a side street right off of U.S. 202 near downtown Westfield in summer 1973. A strickly all business looking White 4000 (except for the hood ornament) for lumber supplier Weyerhauser that had pulled into the Westfield, MA Agway retail store along U.S. 20 in summer 1974.
This here is one tough looking Diamond Reo steel hauler who was leased to a fleet called Brown possibly from the Philadelphia, PA area. He had pulled into the parking lot where I had my rolls of 110 film developed into prints right along MA Route 147 in W. Springfield in 1974. I like the colors on this unidentified Pete COE and matching tarp to help compliment the hopper trailer who's driver was layed over at the Westfield Hojo's in summer 1974. Round Hill Foods at Pioneer Valley Ref. Warehouse in spring 1975 back when Avis was into renting heavy trucks.
Good looking Schultz Transit, Inc. tractor #38 from Winona, MN was hooked onto a Kroblin Transportation Systems (KTS) reefer whose fleet was then based in Waterloo, IA. It was parked along a side street right by that LTL motel in W. Springfield in summer 1974. Kroblin also ran a div. called Kroblin Road Xpress or KRX, but no idea why the different name, does anyone have the answer? Shoe company The Stride Rite Corporation at the Stateline Truck Stop at the MA/NY line right off of I-90 sometime in 1974. Texas Continental Express, Inc. (T-CEX) from Dallas (I think) had some really nice rigs leased on with them. This sharp Pete was off loading at Hampden Beef in late fall 1974.
M (something) Beef Express was at Pioneer Valley Ref. Warehouse with this good looking White Freightliner in early 1975. Todd Transport Co. Inc. from Secretary, MD delivering to the Springfield farmer's market with this clean red GMC Astro machine during summer 1974. A Northbound KWCOE for Safe-Way Movers from NYC, NY passing me on I-95 S. of Palm Bay headed straight into this menacing wicked looking approaching storm South of Palm Bay, FL in 1985.
Westbound Pete on the Mass Pike between Exits 4 & 3, late summer 1974. The 3 Anchor Motor Freight (Anchor Clankers) 2 Chevy's & 1 GMC were delivering 1975 model year Chevy's to the W. Springfield dealer for some big sale back in fall 1974 when I shot them. Here is the other side angle to the C.R. England KW I shot along U.S. 20 in W. Springfield in late 1974/early 1975.
A sharp Pete 359 for Albert Farms Worthington, MA based fleet that i found at the W. Springfield Thermo King repair facility in early 1975. Albert Farms also based a small fleet out of Slocum, RI that have appeared in a few other pictures of mine on Hank's site. Here's one of the original White Freightliner conventional models before the White name was dropped. It's some first name Jehle Farms not sure where from that I shot in the late 1980's at the former Holiday Inn W. of Vero Beach, FL out by I-95.One of my earlier shots from summer 1973 taken about dusk of this KW conv. leased to Associated Transport's Special Commodities div. layed over at the Country Court Motel on U.S. 202 across from O'Connor Lumber.
The O/O of the W Ford leased to Ryder Truck Lines Ranger Spec. Commodities div. was chowing down at the Valley View Diner in W. Springfield when I came across it in 1974 Sunbury Transport Diamond Reo from New Brunswick was delivering to O'Connor Lumber in summer 1974. It was past sunset on this stormy late Nov. 1974 early evening when I spotted this Dodge leased to Trans-American had pulled into the entrance to the Westfield Hojo's motel. Note the slight buildup of snow on the front wall of the trailer which has the logo partially obscurred.
As seen through the back window of my Dad's Chevy Impala as we passed this Southbound Brockway on I-91 near Brattleboro, VT during the summer months of 1973. An unidentified W Ford waiting it's turn to unload at the Springfield farmer's market in summer 1974. A Quebec based Dodge COE with the name of Pelletier on the cab door at O'Connor Lumber in Westfield sometime in 1974.
An unidentified Diamond Reo hooked onto kind of beat up looking reefer trailer I found parked by U.S. 5 in W. Springfield during the summer of 1974. Carolina White Road Boss taken back in early 1981 near Ft Pierce, FL. A Dodge leased to Sydney, OH based CFX (Coldway Food Express) at the long ago torn down A & P warehouse on Springfield's North side in summer 1974.
